Hello

Like all of us I'm having problems attacking bases. Keep having to log in and out

Hi there,

Battle Pirates is currently one of the few games on Facebook with synchronous play, meaning that players can battle other players in real time. Because this combat requires a different type of connection than regular web traffic, even if you can load your base and view the world map, you may not be able to join battles.

Anytime your computer connects to another computer, it uses an address and port. The address tells it which computer to talk to, the port tells it which service to talk to on that computer, sort of like an apartment number tells you which door to knock on in a building. Different services on the Internet use different ports, for example web pages are usually loaded over port 80. Battle Pirates connects to a "battle server" when fleet-to-fleet or base battles occur.

The game will attempt to connect via TCP on the following ports, in the order listed: 80, 8080, 8000, 50000, 53, 443. As long as a connection can be established on any one of these ports, you will be able join battles.

Additionally, Flash attempts to make a connection on port 843 in order to request security information. It is not required that this connection succeed, but it will significantly speed up the connection progress.

The most common culprits of connection issues in Battle Pirates are anti-virus software, firewalls and routers, which are designed to control your computer's incoming and outgoing connections. These programs and devices can restrict access in many ways, such as not allowing connections to specific ports, or restricting what kind of data can be sent on each port.

Below are the steps we recommend in attempting to diagnose and recover from a port block.

* Try reloading the game, it is possible you just experienced a temporary connection interruption.
* If you are experiencing issues while on a large network such as in an office or at a school, try contacting the network administrator. There may be rules in place that are interfering with the game.
* Try rebooting your computer, router and/or modem. If your hardware doesn't have power switch, just unplug it for a few seconds then plug it back in.
* Scan your computer for viruses, trojans and other malware. If you do not already have a program installed to do this, there are free scanners available online, such as this: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
* If you are using a router, try bypassing it by connecting your computer directly to your cable/DSL modem. If this fixes the problem, you may need to adjust the settings on your router. Each router is different, so you will need to refer to the documentation from the manufacturer. In general:
* Be sure that there are no rules that are blocking any of the ports the game is trying to use.
* Try disabling optional features such as "Stateful Packet Inspection" (SPI) and "Quality of Service" (QoS), which may interfere with normal traffic.
* Disable browser plugins, toolbars and other utilities, especially ad blockers. If this solves your problem, you can re-enable them one by one until you find the program causing the issue. If you are able to determine which program is interfering, please let us now so we can work on a solution.

With caution, you might also try to temporarily deactivate your antivirus, firewall and other security software. For some of these programs, turning them off is not sufficient to prevent interference and they must be completely uninstalled. Note that we do not recommend that you run your computer with your security disabled. After you finish troubleshooting, you should re-install and re-enable it. If this solves your problem, you may still be able to use the program after configuring it properly. Consult the documentation for the program for specific instructions. Some software, however, may simply be incompatible with the game. Be sure to let us know what program is causing the problem so we can work on a solution. You can also try contacting the company that makes the software, as many provide a way to report incompatibilities and "false positives".

* The names of any virus scanners, anti-malware, and/or firewall software you have installed.
* Browser and OS versions, which can be found here: http://supportdetails.com
* Where are you connecting? (e.g. work, home, school, public wi-fi)
* The name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
* The manufacturer and model of the router and/or cable/DSL modem you are using
* Flash version, which can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

ALL THE LITTLE NEW GUYS COMPLAINING ARE GETTING ON OUT OF HAND TRAVEL 15 MINUTES FOR A GUNBOAT ATTACKING A LEVEL 13 BASE. OR A LONG BOAT. WTF

IF THE LONG BOAT CAPTAIN IS NOT NIGHTMARE THEN LEARN AND GET BETTER AND GO ATTACK BACK....
