Hitting bases

OK , can someone give me some tips , When I hit a Base with my FF Fleet , they have Shock-wave Mort , DU IV and Drac Absorb armor and Eng II with a couple with auto loader II I cant seem to get very far into a base , especially with bases that have allot of bends , with op posts that cannt be reached from the outside prim
I dont know if I'm being impatient by going strait for the throat or should I refit my FF with a different set up , any advice would be appreciated.
